Her family has no connection to entertainment. When her parents separated in 1990, she enrolled at Trinity College, Hartford, Connecticut and graduated with an BA in Comparative Arts. In the early years of her professional career, she was only twelve when she performed on stage in the production of an opera called "Amahl's Night People". After performing on stage she was offered the roles on small-screen and large-screen productions. Today, McCormack is recognized as one of the most flexible performers in Hollywood. Married to producer cum director Michael Morris, she has three daughters.
